Dr. Who and the Daleks
(Dell, 1966)
™ and ©1966 BBC, Terry Nation, and Souvenir Press, Ltd.
Doctor Who, the classic British science fiction television program, was first introduced to audiences in the United States way back in 1966, thanks to an issue of Dell’s Movie Classics comics. The time-traveling doctor is here shown in his earliest incarnation, with his son and two grandchildren coming along for the rollicking adventures through time and space. Using the Tardis, the Doctor’s time machine (which appears from the outside to be an old London telephone booth), the crew encounters the fearsome Daleks, evil robots bent on enslaving the earth. Dr. Who has remained popular through the years and has made many other appearances in comics since this landmark issue.
