Scene: the near future—the city of San Ysidro, on America’s west coast. Dane Kuchiyama is a Japanese policeman with samurai training and a strange past. He’s on loan to the U.S. police to help them fight the Japanese mobs which have sprung up on the west coast.

His partner, Sgt. Griffin Palmer, is the scourge of the Japanese mobs. Though likable in person, Griffin makes a terrible enemy. He scares the mob because he is as brutal and as ferocious as they are—maybe even more so. But three months ago, his wife died in a car crash, and Palmer has been on leave ever since.

Together, they’re gunning for one of the world’s most murderous mobs. But if that weren’t bad enough, Kuchiyama soon discovers that his own partner is not what he seems…as late one night, he gets a visit from Griffin’s supposedly deceased wife!
