Timedrifter (Gerard Jones’…)
(Innovation, 1990-1991)
™ and © 1990 Gerard Jones
Willis Austerlitz is a man at odds with his life. He is a hopeless romantic, in love with the Golden Age of Hollywood when the stars were icons of class and Hollywood was a magical town capable of fulfilling dreams. Today the luster of the town is tarnished by the vulgarities of modern society and stars that reflect their feet of clay. Austerlitz lives a life of desperate anticipation, but cannot find a soulmate to share his idealized vision of a time long past.
When he mysteriously stumbles upon the winning ticket from the Planetwide Lottery 200 years in the future, he decides to use the prize to go back to the Hollywood of the 1930s, where he is sure he can find contentment. But Austerlitz is about to discover that something loved from a distance may be no more real than his imagination.
Created and written by Gerald Jones, (The Shadow Strikes, Justice League Europe), Timedrifter continues science fiction themes first broached in The Big Prize, a title that lasted only two issues.
