Can’t get enough of those classic EC Comics? That’s what Gemstone Publishing is hoping. Following through on its commitment to reprint pre-code EC books for a new generation of readers, the publisher has released Extra!. The 1955 run of Extra! focused on ace newspaper reporters who, in an effort to get their story, always wound up becoming a part of it.

The World Press Service serves as the setting for Extra!’s crack journalists Keith Michaels, Steve “Slick” Rampart and Geri Hamilton. In Michaels’ “Dateline” adventures, the reporter travels the world (usually accompanied by his female sidekick Vicki) accepting assignments that require him to solve the case first and file a story second. Photojournalist Rampart, on the other hand, just happens to be at the right place at the right time—all the time! In an era when paparazzi aren’t looked on negatively, the photographer manages to get his shot and his man in one fell swoop. Last but not least, foreign correspondent Hamilton (and photographer Dagger) has a nose for news. Unfortunately, it’s that nose that manages to get her into trouble. But thanks to the numerous male suitors flocking to her beauty, the female reporter always manages to escape harms way.
