Sinister Romance

This amusing one-shot from England’s Harrier Comics takes a look at the weird side of romance. Glenn Dakin’s “The Isis Syndrome” leads off, telling of the travails of collegian super-hero Radio-Man as he falls for a girl who appears to be possessed by a 5,000 year-old mummy. Next comes Trevs Phoenix’s “You Put a Spell on Me” wherein a lovestruck sorceress discovers that she’s married a gangster who’d pretended to be an investment banker. “Compulsion” by Warren Pleece is the story of a mystic who uses a love potion to gain a bride, and is punished for abusing his powers. The best of the lot, however, is “Know What I Mean” (again by Dakin) about a woman who falls for a nice-seeming man who is perpetually using odd figures of speech. It’s to no-one’s surprise really, when he turns out to be an alien.
