Xena: Warrior Princess: The Orpheus Trilogy

    (Topps, 1998)
™ and ©1998 Universal Television Enterprises, Inc.

In this 1998 mini-series, Xena: Warrior Princess is recruited (or rather, forced) to help Orpheus reclaim his wife Eurydice from Hades. Eurydice had been killed during a battle which Xena instigated some years ago, an event which weighed heavily on her conscience. To assure her cooperation, Orpheus used his magical lyre to capture Gabrielle, holding her hostage until Xena gave her word to help.

As if venturing into Hades weren’t dangerous enough, Lachesis, one of the Fates, has her own designs on Orpheus. In order to keep him single (and available) she is willing to pull a few strings, as it were. Having failed to bribe Xena into breaking her own word, she bribed Hades instead to make sure that although Xena may walk into his domain, she would never leave it alive.
