The Mighty Magnor
(Malibu, 1993-1994)
™ and ©1993 Sergio Aragonés and Mark Evanier
This title was created by Sergio Aragonés and Mark Evanier, the team who brought us Groo the Wanderer. It features C.J. Delaney and Gil Gillman, two fledgling comic artists. C.J. and Gil have submitted dozens of comic book proposals to their editor, Charles “Attila” Hunsecker, only to receive the same reply: “The readers want super-heroes! And nothing but super-heroes!” In desperation, the two starving creators tried creating a super-hero, but no idea they could come up with hadn’t been done at least ninety-seven times before. They were just on the verge of giving up when they spied the huge, costumed man in the alley, reciting TV commercial slogans…
They took him home, gave him a costume, and called him Magnor. Magnor then read through C.J.’s comic book collection and began speaking in comic book clichés. Combined with his apparent strength and super-powers, Magnor became the hero they’d been waiting for.
