Silly Daddy

    (Joe Chiappetta, 1995-1998)
™ and ©1997 Joe Chiapetta

Silly Daddy tells Joe Chiapetta’s story of fatherhood with a surrealistic flair. Beginning with the three most intense years of his life, when he became a father and dealt with the comedy and tragedy of family life, each issue presents Chiapetta’s odd view of reality.

One issue may serve as a warning to women on the nature of men, while the next may focus on the funny side of parenting. At another juncture in the story, the characters clash with cops at a picnic, and then later find themselves hiding out in a Big Brother-style future.

And that’s all before Daddy meets up with Psycho Chick: she’s 15, she likes her costume skimpy, and her enemies beaten to a pulp.

Weird and personal, Joe Chiapetta’s Silly Daddy puts a new twist on fatherhood.
