Pop Life
(Fantagraphics, 1998-1999)
™ and ©1998 Ho Che Anderson and Wilfred Santiago
Ho Che Anderson describes Pop Life as “a mini-series…about everything and nothing. The “everything” part seems truly appropriate as Anderson deals with everything from the creation and the fall of man to the story of five “wongo women,” their bare breasts, and their broken right legs. Of course, Anderson’s take on the creation finds omnipotent Larry creating the very naked Sheckie and Louise in the midst of Paradise, and-well-you probably know the rest. And those five women with the bum legs? They look at a gorgeous day as a reason to take their clothes off. Interesting, off-center, stuff from writer Anderson and artist Wilfred Santiago.
