Lori Lovecraft: The Big Comeback

    (Caliber, 1999)
™ and ©1999 Mike Vosburg

B-movie actress Lori Lovecraft has an unfailing smile, a body to die for, and the realization, after two years traveling the globe, that Hollywood is where she belongs. She’s also found a new obsession in a book of occult spells that opens her up to a dangerous world of demons and monsters. Juggling her fascination with the occult with her efforts to resurrect her career, Lori soon finds the two worlds overlapping. Can she survive the convergence? Perhaps, if a world-weary gumshoe (and ex-boyfriend) has anything to say about it.

Creator, writer, and artist Mike Vosburg joins cowriter Pete Ventrella in producing this regular series of Lori Lovecraft one-shots, with titles like “Repression” and “The Big Comeback.” They take the ever-perky Lori through a series of occult adventures, sexual encounters, and filming sequences of what appear to be some of the worst movies ever made. The black-and-white art is as lovely as the oft-naked actress, and there’s some humor here, too. Published by Caliber Comics.
