Night of the Vegan

    (Outland Entertainment, 2021)

Prosperous Lake, New Mexico with a population of 398 is the kind of quaint, tight‑knit agricultural town where nothing more dramatic than a prize gourd contest ever happens. With the County’s 100th Agricultural Fair just days away, the whole community is buzzing with small‑town pride. But far above their orchards and cornfields, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Meadows is orchestrating a very different kind of celebration: using Prosperous Lake as the unknowing test site for her unregulated super‑fertilizer, Vegantuan XL. When the tanker hauling the volatile compound crashes and its experimental gas drifts over the town cemetery, Meadows scrambles to bury the incident but the dead have other plans. It starts with a rustle in the soil. Then a hand. Then dozens. Reanimated by Vegantuan XL, the corpses of Prosperous Lake rise not with a hunger for flesh, but with an insatiable craving for fruits, vegetables, and anything leafy and green. As the Vegan Zombies swarm the township on the eve of its biggest fair in a century, Sheriff Elwood Beechum and the town leaders are outmatched and out of ideas. Their unlikely hope arrives in the form of Vinny “The Shovel” Zapparelli a Philly mob enforcer turned witness‑protection transplant who’s fallen hard for local sweetheart Linder Hammersmith. To win her heart and save the town, Vinny must ditch his lone‑wolf instincts and join the fight to protect Prosperous Lake’s crops before the orchards run red with tomato juice.
