My Favorite Martian

Ray Walston was always striving to be a respected film and stage actor when he agreed to portray a sophisticated Martian sporting “rabbit ear” antennas that typecast him for a couple of decades. He later broke the typecast portraying a judge on Picket Fences, which garnered him an Emmy. In retrospect, Martian is not as idiotic as some sitcoms get due to the fine performances by Walston and of Bill Bixby. An animated series followed in the 1970s as well as this comic book series.
