Deathmate combines the talents and comic universes of Image and Valiant for the first time.The origin of this great crossover begins in 2062. Solar, Man of the Atom, had long been keeping his lover, Gayle, young and alive using his powers. He finally agrees to let her die, but in his grief over the loss he suffers a schizoid episode, actually splitting into two separate beings. He then enters the place called Unreality where he encounters WildC.A.T.s’ Void. Living vessels of the energy from two different worlds, the two are drawn to each other—even though joining together might spell doom for the entire universe.

Back in 1993, the Geomancer Geoff awakes from a dream to find the world changed. Valiant characters such as Bloodshot and Shadowman exist side by side with Youngblood. But this new world has no future—it was destroyed by the deadly mating of Solar and Void, seventy years from now…
