Gangland

Gangland is an exceeding dark and visceral anthology series of gangster stories. With contributors ranging from Jamie Delano (Hellblazer) to Joe Lansdale (Dead in the West), it’s no surprise that this series enjoys taking the crime genre to the edge. Even the cover to issue #1 flips up to offer a very nasty surprise.

If you’ve got the stomach for it, the series offers some real thrills. “Clean House” by Brian Azzarello and Tim Bradstreet revisits the concept of a safe house in an era where budget cutting requires certain grim economies be put in place. “Chains” by Peter Kuper is a moving portrait of the international drug trade, told without words. “Your Special Day” by Doselle Young and Frank Quitely is a darkly humorous look at a Mafia wedding and an erstwhile hitman. With a total of fourteen stories in all, this four-issue mini-series is a Tarentino fan’s dream come true.
