American Indian mysticism, floating doorways to the afterlife—these things were not a part of Juanita Culver’s life… not until the day her son, Shaquilla, was killed by a bolt of lightning. That same energy struck her as well, but instead of dying she gained super-human powers. Fortunately for her, because soon to follow would be the vicious attack from an out worldly ghoul and it was only Juanita’s new powers that saved her from a certain brutal death.

Then the shaman came. He explained to Juanita the forces behind these terrible, wondrous events and told her of the great task that was ahead of them—He was the guardian. She was the protector. Together they would travel west to find the spirit guide and restore the pathway to the spirit world—only then could the threat of the ghouls be stopped.
