Funky Phantom

    (Gold Key, 1972-1975)
™ and ©1973 Hanna-Barbera Productions, Inc.

Based on the television cartoon of the same name, the Funky Phantom isn’t funny and definitely not funky. Having a ghost as a compatriot can be a neat thing, but not when it continually forgets that it’s a ghost, too. The plots are fairly simple: teenagers find themselves in trouble, ghost attempts to rectify the situation but “ghostly” powers worsen the situation, ghost thinks of better solution to use powers and the dilemma is solved. The writers could have made American history more accessible to young minds but instead focused on lowbrow humor. Be advised that the ghostly groans are dire warnings about lame jokes and horrible puns. This ghost desperately needs some soul.
