Superman, the man of steel, last survivor of another world is being reminded that all life is mortal and sooner or later, everyone we know and love is going to be gone. He even wonders why, of all the people of lost Krypton, was he the only survivor. Questions and possibilities buried deeply in his sub-conscious come to the surface when a mysterious being begins testing the man of steel, causing him to take a good hard look at his place in the cosmic scheme of things. Superman faces Death and in the end, there is freedom for only one.

J. M. DeMatteis and Liam McCormack-Sharp have come up with a very different sort of Superman story.
