The Taxx
(Parody, 1994)
™ and © 1994 Parody Press
The Taxx is a parody of Sam Kieth’s The Maxx, a book originally published by Image Comics that also became a short-lived MTV series. In writer Don Chin’s send-up, the Maxx is named the Tacks, changed to the Taxx in the title to make it more commercially viable. The Tacks was an accountant in Australia who went on a killing spree after an avalanche of clients drove him insane. Chin pokes fun at Wolverine, Lobo, and Frank Miller’s Sin City as well. Bill Maus eerily captures Kieth’s bizarre art style.
