It is the year 1180 and Gilad is the Eternal Warrior, the protector of group of Tibetan monks pledged to guard the Earth from an ancient evil. But when time grows short for the last monk, Tashi Khatan, and no suitable replacement can be found, he resorts to a ritual to create a tulpa, a duplicate fashioned to train a successor. This effort goes awry however and the tulpa is loosed on the earth.

Eight hundred years later a blind man named Clay McHenry has followed the ley lines of geomantic energy in the earth to a graveyard where he is attacked by a skeletal apparition that he fends off with his silver cane. The struggle leaves McHenry with a vision of Tashi and a promise of enlightenment if he will but pass through the doorway. The skeletal apparition reappears and prevents his passage and as McHenry returns from the vision he is confronted by the Eternal Warrior…
