Black and white

With help from an Internet site for amateur astronomers, Simon Adams discovers a star and named it for his newborn daughter Cassie. A few years later, Simon can’t find the star anymore. The missing star serves as a metaphor for Simon’s psychological bearings which he lost with the arrival of fatherhood.

Although thoroughly in love with little Cassie and sympathetic wife Meg, Simon can’t seem to arrange the pieces of his life in to a satisfying whole. He moves in circles at work and struggles to gain a toehold in life.

Admittedly influenced by manga, British writer/artist Andi Watson (Skeleton Key, Breakfast After Noon) draws on that genre’s lessons in atmosphere and pacing to set the quiet tone of this poignant character–driven family narrative. Watson expands on his signature interest in the fundamental choices people make just in the course of living their daily lives.
