Bill Willingham combines his love of super-heroes and fantasy for a whimsical tale of revenge and ineptitude. Morningstar is the fire portion of The Elementals, and is adjusting to life with her new husband from Elementals 7. He’s the Merlin of legend, and inhabits a magical kingdom, also home to transforming dragons, among other creatures. Accompanied by the assassin Fantasia, Morningstar takes a tour of her husband’s world only to encounter the son of a dragon she had killed, a description belying the generally slapstick humor throughout. Willingham’s frequently defective figurework suggests a rushed job, but his decorative style of art compensates to a degree, and fans of his work in general will probably enjoy this.
