Defenders of Dynatron City
(Marvel, 1992)
™ and ©1992 LucasArts Entertainment Company, Inc.
From the creative minds behind Lucasarts comes the super-hero team of the future—Marvel Comics’ Defenders of Dynatron City. Revolving around bizarre, otherworldly characters, the Star Wars guru’s venture into comics takes a stab at the often “hit and miss” market of all ages humor.
Set in the futuristic Dynatron City—”proud symbol of the atomic age where mutation is a way of life”—six oddball heroes battle to keep their metropolis safe from the bumbling clutches of evil. Ms. Megawatt, Jet Headstrong, Buzzsaw Girl, Monkey-Kid, Toolbox and Radium Dog (brought into “super-herodom” by mutagenic elements found in the popular Proto Cola soft drink) battle not-so-scary villains issue after issue in a series of self-contained stories. Injected with more slapstick comedy than action, each issue’s conclusion can be compared to one of two classic Scooby Doo endings—a) the villain is caught after a fortunate mishap, or b) after being caught, the Defenders befriend the villain because…he’s not such a bad guy after all.
