Dyke’s Delight was published by Carol Bennett of Knockabout Comics, with help from a grant by England’s Foundation for Sport and the Arts. The title is meant as a spotlight for lesbian cartoonists, and includes the work of such acclaimed artists as Roberta Gregory (Naughty Bits) and Karen Platt, as well as lesser-known, but equally talented newcomers.

Among the highlights of the series are “Auntie Studs,” Kate Charlesworth’s humorous look at gay culture as told by one its grande dames. Roberta Gregory’s “Bitchy Butch” is a variation of her “Bitchy Bitch” character, carrying the same over-the-top anger to hilarious extremes. Jeanne Franson also has great fun with gender roles with her comic work, easily managing the delicate task of making a point while raising a smile—always a worthwhile endeavor.
