Dark Horse Presents: Aliens

This 1992 special collected and colorized the various Aliens appearances from Dark Horse Presents. The first of the five stories, “Theory of Alien Propagation,” is a primer to the Aliens’ ghastly breeding and hunting practices, speculating on their origins, and concluding with their threat to Earth.

Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett’s two-part Aliens story is the most effective of the bunch, relating a treasure-hunting expedition into an Alien pyramid, only to find a terrible presence within the mausoleum. Simon Bisley-illustrated “Reapers” is perhaps the least effective, although it does boast Bisley’s trademark art, as well as a humorous flourish at the end. The special is concluded with “The Alien,” a final chapter in Aliens: Earth War in which mankind arranges to repopulate an Earth overrun by Aliens.
