The Detective

Only three things are known about private investigator Max Faccioni: he’s adventurous; he’s determined; and he’s dead. His successful career cut tragically short (perhaps the result of a case gone awry), the pulp detective has become the latest subject for investigative reporter Charlton Evans. But will the clues that begin to unfold under the journalist’s scrutiny wind him up in the morgue right next to Faccioni?

The 12-issue, black and white mini-series from California-based Sunset Strips (written and illustrated by Gerard Goffaux) takes readers back to the day of classic pulp entertainment. Fedora wearing private eyes who always get their man, heavy blacks and inks used to create a shadow enshrouded atmosphere and stories written in chapters, serialized to create a sense of cinematic pacing. More of a marketing tool for the publisher/creative studio; The Detective is an exploration into a classic form of storytelling unfamiliar to most of today’s modern-day audience.
