Buster the Amazing Bear

Buster was found wandering off Interstate 95 and was taken in by kindhearted scientist Robert Ramsey. Ramsey and his friend Elaine nursed the bear back to health, but were torn when it came to deciding what to do with him when he recovered. Let loose in his natural environment, it was likely that he would die, but the only visible alternative—putting him in a zoo—seemed just as cruel.

In a delightfully shameless premise, Ramsey used Buster in an experiment to make endangered species more resistant to extinction by bonding human and cockroach genes (the two most unkillable things on the planet) to the subject. Soon Buster was a super-intelligent chess player able to fall out of high rise buildings with barely a scratch (but with a very sad look on his face).

A charmingly playful comic, Buster the Amazing Bear goes a long way toward putting the fun back in funnybooks.
