Graphic Nonfiction: Elizabeth I

    (Rosen, 2005)
™ and © Rosen

At the age of 20, Elizabeth Tudor was held in the Tower of London for allegedly taking part in a plot to assassinate her sister the Queen. Four years later, she was named Elizabeth I, Queen of England. This biography chronicles the life of a powerful and influential leader who ruled in the midst of numerous plots and controversies, all the while confounding the royal family by refusing to marry. Some cultural notes are included within the confines of the story, such as a two-page spread depicting the many articles of clothing a well-dressed queen was expected to wear, and several short articles add background on the royal family and Elizabethan England. Though intended for a school audience, Elizabeth I provides a quick and painless way for anyone to brush up on their British history.
