The world of Star Wars has never looked better.

Amidst the battles, both public and private, in the Imperial Senate over matters of allies and enemies, we find that the universe of The Jedi and The Chancellor are not always what they seem. Hidden agendas, hidden enemies, and public disregard for matters of state characterize The Senate’s dealings, and Palpatine is reluctant to confront the real issues.

The combined talents of writers John Ostrander, Haden Blackman, and Jeremy Barlow and artists Tomas Giorello, Brandon Badeaux, Ramiro Montanez, and Stacy Michalcewicz add five tales to the Clone Wars saga. Both art and story are worthy of the franchise, and make an excellent contribution to the genre. Of the tales here, “The Best Blades” is easily the most impressive artwise, while “Bloodlines” is the best overall.

All of the Star Wars compilations are worthy of collecting, and this is no different. Star Wars fans will appreciate the chronology [in the back of the trade paperback collection], and the effort required to not only fit into the Lucas universe, but to advance the characters from the films in a compelling and logical fashion.
