Legion of Super-Heroes (3rd Series)

DC’s super-team of the future returned in 1984 for this, its third series. The watchword of this title seemed to be “change”—hard, rapid change. It took only until the fourth issue for DC to kill longtime Legion of Super-Heroes member Karate Kid. Nemesis Kid joined him in that fate in the next issue. Later issues would see a great change in the membership roster as Magnetic Kid, Mentalla, Quislet, Tellus, and Sensor Girl replaced original members Cosmic Boy, Lightning Lad, and Saturn Girl.

All that, of course, was nothing compared to the great upheaval that took place in the Crisis on Infinite Earths. In events that have confused DC’s continuity to this day, much of the future timeline was rewritten, and (virtually) all the alternate Earths were destroyed.
