Beginning in 1939, German bombers began raining down fire on London in a never-ending series of air raids. Everyone was required to pull together—those who did not fight directly in the air acted as air raid wardens or assisted in clearing the wreckage. Everyone had to pull together in what Winston Churchill would call Britain’s “finest hour.”

But amidst the bombs and patriotism, there lurked greed and evil. Black marketeers made a rich living flaunting rationing laws. And when Harold Stevens was seized by his conscience to turn them in, he was chased down by a mob and had his head smashed in. His death would be blamed on the air raids, but the truth would be revealed when Harold spoke to his mother from beyond the grave. London’s Dark is a beautifully-wrought tale of suspense, as two people are called upon to seek out justice for a ghost.
