O Terror Negro

    (Editora La Selva, 1951-1967)

First Brazilian magazine dedicated to the horror genre. Despite that, it began as an hero-comic book, featuring stories of the American super hero "Black Terror". After a year, the editors changed the line of the magazine to a horror-oriented one, keeping its title and editing stories from many U.S. terror/sci-fi magazines of the time, plus some original local work. Covers were usually drawn by the Portuguese-Brazilian artist Jayme Cortez, who also illustrated many stories for the magazine. It spawned many other Brazilian horror titles in the 50´s and 60´s, and was published monthly until the demise of its publishing house, in the late 60´s.
