Eclipse Comics published Destroyer Duck from 1982 until 1984, and proceeds from the sales helped writer Steve Gerber finance his lawsuit to regain ownership of Howard the Duck from Marvel Comics. In this one-shot, Gerber teams up with Erik Larsen, an outspoken proponent of creators’ rights and the writer/artist who has staunchly maintained the integrity of his Savage Dragon’s corner of the Image Universe over the years, and works toward returning a cigar-chomping duck to rightful owner. Good, meaningful stuff from Gerber, Larsen, and penciller Chris Marrinan (Wonder Woman). And just wait ‘til you see Leonard the Duck!
