Astro City/Arrowsmith

This Kurt Busiek-written flip book introduces readers to both his long-running Astro City series, as well as the more recent and quite fanciful Arrowsmith. The Astro City installment—drawn by Brent Anderson (Ka-Zar the Savage)—takes place in the Fifties, and showcases the Black Badge, an African-American super-hero who inspires the youth of Bakerville, and serves as a prelude to the Dark Age storyline. The Arrowsmith segment—featuring the artwork of Carlos Pacheco (JLA/JSA: Virtue and Vice)—is the prelude to the limited series that was originally available only on the Internet. Rounding out the package are maps relevant to each of the series, as well as an interview with Kurt Busiek. A fine package, to be sure!
