Silver Age: Green Lantern
(DC, 2000)
™ and ©2000 DC Comics
In DC’s Silver Age crossover event, the intergalactic villain Agamemno, at one time the ruler of the entire universe, has swapped the minds of the Justice League of America with those of their greatest villains. Now the renegade villains-in-the-heroes-bodies are bound for Hawkman’s homeworld of Thanagar, intent on stealing one of the vital keys to universal domination. The only one who can stop them is Hal Jordan, the greatest of all Green Lanterns. But Jordan is trapped in the body of his greatest adversary Sinestro, and the yellow power ring he wields is slowly corrupting him. Can Jordan defeat the entire JLA single-handedly, even as he must fight against his own darkest urges? That’s the devilish question posed by writer Kurt Busiek and artist Brent E. Anderson, best known for their collaborations on Astro City. This issue also marks one of the final works of legendary artist Gil Kane, who designed the Silver Age Green Lantern costume, and drew the Showcase story in which Hal Jordan first appeared. Kane contributed striking pencils for the cover, shortly before his death.
