They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Croatian artist Danijel Zezelj takes that phrase to heart in this collection, spinning a series of short stories that rely largely on his expressive blacks and sharp contrasts to carry the action. In one tale, real-world war crashes in onto an innocent children’s hockey game. In another, a man’s dreams keep returning to a boy and his bicycle.

These and other haunting vignettes fill this book of somewhat somber tales, which given the sparsity of dialogue will likely inspire different emotions and reactions from different people.
