UFO Flying Saucers

Series continues as UFO & Outer Space #14

According to this series, the term “flying saucer” was first used in 1947. By the early seventies (when this series was published) flying saucers were all the rage. At times it seemed every time a small-town local would go for a walk, they’d have a “close encounter” with space aliens.

UFO Flying Saucers recounted scores of these alien and UFO (“Unidentified Flying Object”) sightings. Often, the stories would take great care to point out the corroboration of the story, or the impeccable reputation of the person reporting the sighting. The series even went so far as to suggest Biblical tales might have had their origin in alien encounters. In an attempt to give some balance, however, it also ran a debunking column entitled “The Hoaxmaster Knows and Tells All,” which recounted various UFO scams over the years.

With issue #14, this series became UFO & Outer Space.
