Described as “illustrated adult fantasy tales,” Figments Unlimited is an anthology series featuring super-hero and science fiction stories. Although released by an independent comic book company, Graphik Publikations, Inc., the content is decidedly mainstream fare. The two-part Mantiger tale, concluding in the second issue, ventures into classic Marvel Comics territory; it’s about a scientist, Dr. Jameson Quinn, who is transformed into a half-human, half-beast after an accident. Quinn seeks revenge after his lover Marlena Parker is murdered. Aside from a little nudity there’s nothing to distinguish it from its newsstand peers except that the art isn’t as slick.
