Star Weevils
(Rip Off, 1978)
™ and © 1978 J. Michael Leonard
After eons of observation, weevils from the moon have at last ventured from home and invaded the Earth. However, their observation did not reveal any size ratio, so when they arrive and encounter ants and spiders they assume that insects are the dominant life form. Fortunately for these invaders the only human they chance upon is a somewhat inebriated individual attempting to sleep off a hangover. But even that turn of events is a red herring, when it is revealed that the real reason for the invasion is to destroy a colony of weevil dissidents on Earth who fled the tyranny of the lunar weevils.
The plot of this comic is a bit a labyrinth and with only the logo similarity and the inclusion of a robot named U-2-ME-2, it is a bit of a stretch to suggest that this title is a parody of Star Wars. It is a collection of comic strips that appeared weekly in the Rip Off Syndicate, which accounts for the tendency for a gag every couple of pages.
