This full-color paperback from the 1980s re-presents the earliest adventures of Marvel’s original arachnid femme fatale. Starting with her very first appearance (and face-off against Nick Fury) in Marvel Spotlight #32, this collection tells the origin of the mysterious Jessica Drew, of her exposure to a “spider extract” that gave her her namesake powers, and of her misguided work with the evil world-domineering H.Y.D.R.A. Later stories, taken from issues 1-8 of Spider-Woman’s own title, show Jessica’s first tentative steps towards becoming one of the premier super-heroines of the late 20th century. The collection boasts a wealth of veteran comics talent, including work by writers Archie Goodwin and Marv Wolfman (New Teen Titans) and art by Carmine Infantino (Flash) and Sal Buscema (Incredible Hulk).
