Preacher Special: Tall in the Saddle

Long before embarking on their mission to find God, Jesse Custer and Tulip O’Hare were just a couple of kids in love, financing their passion by stealing expensive cars across the State of Texas. Sometimes even a relatively petty crime leads to others, and a grand theft gone wrong gets the pair (and friend Amy) mixed up with a particularly nasty gang of horse thieves—a crime that deeply offends the raised-by-John-Wayne-movies Custer. They’ll need help getting out of this one, and a retired Texas Ranger just might be able to provide it.

Written and drawn by the regular Preacher team of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, this one-shot set a few years before the ongoing series is a good glimpse at Jesse and Tulip in their wilder, more care-free (relatively speaking, that is) younger days. Published by DC under the Vertigo imprint.
