Hellcat

    (Marvel, 2000)
™ and ©2000 Marvel Characters, Inc.

One of Marvel Comics’ oldest characters still in use, this mini-series was used to reintroduce Patsy Walker, AKA Hellcat, back into the Marvel Universe. The star of serial romance comics from the 1940s through the 1960s such as Patsy Walker Comics and Patsy & Heddy, Walker was modernized for a new generation of readers in the 1970s. Reintroduced to continuity as a confidant of the Beast, Walker convinced the then blue-furred Avenger to help her become a costumed crimefighter. Taking on the masked persona of Hellcat in the Avengers, Walker eventually joined Marvel’s “non-team” the Defenders. Suffering from depression, brought on by years of abuse at the hands of her husbands Buzz Baxter and Daimon Hellstrom, alias the Son of Satan, Walker took her own life and was sent to the “Arena of Tainted Souls.” Rescued from Hell by the Avengers, Walker has returned to the land of the living with newfound magical powers and a host of new enemies all making her wonder if maybe she would have been better off staying dead.
