Penguin & Pencilguin

    (Fragments West, 1987)
™ and ©1987 Leigh Rubin & Phil Yeh

Penguin and Pencilguin are two bird brothers who work for their father Dadguin’s ice cream store. The siblings want to become writers and artists, and this series tells the stories that they would create. The first issue contains a parody of the novel Shogun in which a Shoguin (every name in the book always ends with “uin”) invents a new weapon: a sword with ice cream on top. The ice cream is used to fling at enemies. Usagi Yojimbo has a cameo in the same tale.
Creators Leigh Rubin and Phil Yeh founded Cartoonists Across America, an effort to stop illiteracy in the country.
