Towards the end of the 21st century, a terrible war wrought by an alien race has ravaged the Earth. To protect the planet from future attacks, an elite squad of space fliers—the Shock Rockets—is formed. These high-tech flyboys (and girls) use ships that are deadly combinations of human and alien technology. But aliens are no longer the problem. The real danger comes from the all-too-human would-be dictator Emilio Korda, who has destroyed the Shock Rockets base as part of his plan to create a global empire subservient only to him. Can Earth’s protectors stop him? And when it seems that all has failed, can a young Shock Rocket flyer, dubbed by many as the weak link in the team, save the day? Writer Kurt Busiek’s (Marvels, Astro City) six-issue limited series has all the action and flavor of a 1930’s movie serial, while Stuart Immonen (Final Night) and Wade von Grawbadger (Starman) provide all the artistic flash and zoom of a turn-of-the-millennium summer blockbuster.
