Bob Powell’s ponderoulsy-named creation, “The Man in Black Called Fate” was the lead feature in this anthology title from Harvey. A supernatural character of indeterminate power, he was referred to as “Fate,” “Man in Black” and sometimes “M.B.” by other members of his pantheon that included such diverse individuals as Cupid, Venus, Thor and The Weaver. At times he was the escort of souls to the afterlife, (and if they weren’t dead, he could arrange it), and other times he was the reader’s ubiquitous narrator in stories that revolved on a twist of fate.

Others stories ran the gamut from mysteries to science fiction but with a supernatural element that usually relied on a surprise ending.
