The Kadmons, the thoroughly post-modern Nick and Nora Charles of the supernatural suppression set has that rarest of multi-media articles: a successful marriage. As they go about their everyday chores of stalking vampires, they spark, not in a contrived coffee-commercial fashion, but like people who just genuinely want to be together.

No worries, this issue also has monsters, and a nicely varied bunch of them, too, who have an “ingenious” plan to go to a town, kill the humans, and then live happily in their houses with all their modern conveniences forever and ever.

It’s such a monumentally stupid plot (for one thing, what are they planning to do when the utility bills start coming?) it makes me think that, just perhaps, the monsters really are misunderstood. That they’re like eternal, homicidal teen-agers that haven’t quite put the equal sign between cause and effect yet and don’t so much need killing as minimum-wage jobs to teach them a work ethic.
