Cavewoman: He Said, She Said
(Basement, 2003)
™ and © Budd Root
A time-honored tradition of fictional storytelling involves the same adventure being described by two different participants, usually with wildly diverse interpretations. That’s the premise behind this one-shot, in which the scantily clad Meriem (better known as Cavewoman) and the handsome Bruce each tell the tale of an expedition involving a giant snake, an angry dinosaur, and some valuable dinosaur eggs. Not surprisingly, Bruce comes off as slightly more heroic and competent in one version than in the other.
In both versions, of course, Cavewoman spends a good deal of time either falling out of her animal-skin bikini or fully topless, which is one of the title’s major appeals. The issue is drawn by Devon Massey and features several pinups.
