Pages read right to left; black and white series.

The creator of the feline-focused comic What’s Michael? proves he’s no one-trick cat by penning his version of The Beverly Hillbillies Come to Toyko. Haruo Hattori is a country bumpkin going to college in the big city. However, she must leave behind her wacky parents going through a mid-marriage crisis and a boyfriend relegated to life on the farm after failing to get picked in the baseball draft. She promises her dear Kingoro that she’ll be faithful until she returns.

Promises are meant to be broken. A vivacious but clumsy co-ed (with a running gag of pratfalls), sincerely naïve Haruo has a lot to learn about life. First, her dorm room is haunted by the ghost of a lonely student who committed suicide. To escape, she gets help from her lovely friend Aki, who has a secret life outside of school. Curious, Haruo soon enters the world of Club 9, a bar for semi-famous salary men who enjoy being served by cute hostesses. Is this sweet gal destined to become one of them?
Collected from the anthology Super Manga Blast, Club 9 shows readers a good time. Throwing himself and his Michael characters in as cameos, Kobayashi creates a fun-loving but foggy heroine who is learning to find her way.
