A mousy pilgrim trudges through an overgrown square, tiny attendants skittering underfoot, ferrying hunks of oldstone and any other scrap they could salvage. Vines crawl on the structures around her, an entire ecosystem built on what was left behind by those who came before, if you believe the stories.
She clings to the urn in her hands and stares up at the omnipresent shadow of her destination: the shadow of Mountain. When someone dies, their ashes must be carried to Mountain’s summit and spread, or their spirit will remain trapped in the physical plane, unable to pass on. Nobody understands this better than our Pilgrim, but the chatty mouse is an inexperienced traveler, and the mighty Mountain has no lack of peril, especially as the days grow cooler and the nights longer. Fortunately for her, one Climber remains to guide pilgrims to the summit. One with their own reasons for climbing Mountain…
