Spider-Woman (3rd Series)

After participating in a mystical ceremony called the Gathering of Five, teenager Mattie Franklin received awesome powers—enhanced strength, speed, and agility, as well as flight—and for a time, replaced a “retired” Spider-Man, using her abilities to mimic his. Once Spidey made his return, primarily at Mattie’s urging, the spunky teenager took on the mantle of Spider-Woman III and found herself facing Doctor Octopus and Spider-Woman IV, a genetically altered creature who had vowed to kill all the previous Spider-Women. She also faces Jessica Drew, the first heroine to bear the name, and Julia Carpenter, former member of the Avengers West Coast and Force Works.

So, with all this action and intrigue in her life, how’s a fifteen-year-old girl supposed to focus on such mundane things as school and homework? She’d best find a way or earn the wrath of her aunt and uncle—Marla and longtime Spidey detractor J. Jonah Jameson.
