Gammarauders
(DC, 1989)
™ and ©1988 TSR
A fun—but sometimes incomprehensible—series by Peter B. Gillis and Martin King, Gammarauders is based on the futuristic role-playing game from TSR. The series centers around Jok Tasworth, a bio-droid handler, who will be a key player in the Gamma Age’s greatest war. Jok, meanwhile, seems totally clueless as to his destiny, and is easily fascinated by anything bright and shiny.
The biodroids account for a good deal of the series’ weirdness. They appear to be cyborgs based on various animals—the odder the better. Thus we have kangaroids, tricerians, and something that looks like a robotic bear with space goggles. These biodroids are the friends, allies—and power tools of Jok and the other biodroid handlers.
